This is a fabulous day tour on the luxurious Midland Pullman to the beautiful West Country as our train travels through Bristol and the Somerset Levels onto the preserved West Somerset Railway – the longest heritage line in Britain, for a journey through the beautiful rolling Quantock Hills and along the Exmoor coast offering stunning views across the Bristol Channel. There will be an afternoon sightseeing break in the popular seaside resort of Minehead.

At Taunton we join the picturesque West Somerset Railway for a journey over the full length of the line passing Apple Orchards and sleepy country stations – travelling along the coastline we pass Dunster Castle dating back to Norman times and now in the care of the National Trust.

Journeys end is the popular seaside resort of Minehead with the station situated right on the promenade and pretty harbour only a short stroll away. There are cafes, tea rooms and restaurants in abundance and with picturesque coastal walks there is plenty to do during the two-hour afternoon break.

Mobility – This tour is not suitable for guests requiring the use of a wheelchair or with severe mobility issues.

DESTINATIONS

Midland Pullman | Travel on a Luxury Train to Dunster

Dunster

Dunster is a beautifully preserved medieval village on the edge of Exmoor in Somerset, with cobbled streets, historic buildings and the impressive Dunster Castle overlooking the village. Wander along the High Street to see the distinctive medieval Yarn Market, browse the independent shops and cafés, and explore the old streets around the castle. You can also visit the working Dunster Watermill or enjoy a walk through the castle grounds and surrounding countryside. With its mix of history, traditional pubs and picturesque scenery, Dunster is one of the prettiest villages in Exmoor.

Midland Pullman | Travel on a Luxury Train to Minehead

Minehead

Minehead is a traditional seaside town on the Somerset coast, sitting between the Bristol Channel and the beautiful countryside of Exmoor. Take a walk along the seafront and sandy beach, explore the shops and cafés around the town, or visit the historic harbour with views across the bay towards North Hill. Minehead is also home to the West Somerset Railway, where steam trains depart on scenic journeys through the Somerset countryside. For something a little more energetic, the town marks the start of the South West Coast Path, with some spectacular coastal scenery just beyond the harbour.
