We are delighted to present a three-day weekend break to the Highlands of Scotland travelling over the scenic Highland line to Inverness as we cross impressive bridges with views of cascading waterfalls and tranquil lochs on this memorable tour with views of the Cairngorms, plus a return journey over the spectacular and remote route to Kyle of Lochalsh.

Hotels: No overnight accommodation is included allowing you the freedom and flexibility to arrange your own hotels in Inverness. For further advice and a list of recommended hotels please email our office.

Mobility: This tour is not suitable for guests requiring the use of a wheelchair or with severe mobility issues as the platforms at some remote stations in the highlands are much shorter than our train, low, or accessible only by a footbridge or steps.

Inverness

Not only is Inverness the administrative centre for the Highland Council, but it is also regarded as the capital of the Highlands. As the northern most city in the United Kingdom, situated with in the Great Glen on the River Ness,  Inverness is steeped in history and legend. With a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants it provides for an ideal location for your two nights stay. You may also consider enjoying a river side walk or a visit to Inverness Castle.

Saturday - 03/10/2026

Following departure from your local station our train travels north through the Scottish Lowlands before crossing the iconic Forth Bridge, then joining the Highland line which takes us toward Perth and Pitlochry – climbing over magnificent mountain scenery and the highest railway summit in Britain at Druimuachdar and passing through the Cairngorm National Park to Inverness with an arrival at approximately 20.00.

Sunday - 04/10/2026

Departing Inverness around 09.00 we enjoy one of the ‘Great Railway Journeys of the World’ – the spectacular and scenic coast to coast highland route takes us through Dingwall and over the high plateau at Achnasheen, where great herds of wild deer roam, before descending to sea level and around the shore of beautiful Loch Carron to Kyle of Lochalsh, with stunning views across to the Isle of Skye. Our train returns in the afternoon retracing the scenic journey to Inverness.

At around 09.00 we depart Inverness for the homeward journey passing Culloden and over Slochd Summit with magnificent views of the Cairngorm Mountains passing the ski centre of Aviemore and onward through the impressive Pass of Killiecrankie, Perth, and Stirling.

THE CARRIAGES – Seating is arranged at tables of 4 or 2, laid with crisp linen and fully dressed in fine crockery, fresh flowers, and glassware. DININGSaturday– The day starts as you settle into your seat with a glass of chilled bucks’ fizz, followed by a full English breakfast. A light Luncheon will be served in the very early afternoon. Prior to arrival in to Inverness, commencing with a glass of Champagne, a four course Dinner accompanied with a half bottle of wine per person will be served. Sunday – During our outward journey a light Brunch will be served. Following your afternoon break you will be welcomed aboard by your attentive steward followed by the service of a traditional Afternoon Tea. Monday – One of the highlights of the onboard dining experience will be the service of our Executive Chefs signature seven course ‘Taste of Scotland Luncheon’, commencing with  a refreshing glass of chilled champagne and selection of canapés as you relax in anticipation of the gastronomic journey ahead, accompanied by our Sommelier’s choice of a half bottle of wine per person. The memorable journey concludes with a service of coffee and homemade petits fours.

SEATING SUPPLEMENTS – Seating at a private window table for two is available at a supplement of £120 per person or £300 per person at a larger and more spacious ‘Superior‘ private window table for two  

Bookings for parties of three passengers are accommodated at an ‘exclusive table for three’ with the fourth seat being unoccupied for your added privacy. A total supplement of £310 is applicable for this seating type.
