We are delighted to present a three-day weekend break to the Highlands of Scotland at this most dramatic and beautiful time of year – The journey will be over the entire length of the world-famous West Highland line, featuring some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland as we cross magnificent bridges and viaducts high into the mountains offering views of tumbling waterfalls and peaceful lochs.
Hotels: No overnight accommodation is included on this tour allowing you the freedom and flexibility to arrange your own hotels in Fort William. For further advise and a list of recommended hotels please contact our reservation team.
Mobility: This tour is not suitable for guests requiring the use of a wheelchair or with severe mobility issues as the platforms at some remote stations in the highlands are much shorter than our train, low, or accessible only by a footbridge or steps.

Journey Itinerary
Saturday - 07/10/2023
Our train travels north through the Scottish Lowlands, thence to Glasgow and along the banks of the river Clyde, where we join the scenic and spectacular West Highland line. Passing Loch Long and Loch Lomond we climb high into the mountains for a memorable journey over the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor with an arrival into Fort William around 20.30.

Sunday - 08/10/2023
We depart Fort William at 09.00 for the magnificent 84-mile round trip to Mallaig – Passing Ben Nevis we travel along the shoreline of Loch Eil and at Glenfinnan cross the viaduct featured in the ‘Harry Potter’ movies offering stunning vistas down Loch Shiel and regarded by many as the most spectacular view in Britain. There will be a short break in the pretty fishing port of Mallaig before retracing our outward route passing the white sands of Morar with an arrival back in Fort William about 14.00 with the remainder of the afternoon at leisure for sightseeing.

Monday - 09/10/2023
Departing Fort William around 09.00 we travel up the Great Glen, passing the falls of Orchy and through Monessie Gorge, then alongside Loch Treig with stunning views of the Nevis Range. Continuing homeward around the Horseshoe Curve and County March summit.

This is the ultimate travel experience – seating is in our refurbished Pullman style carriages offering additional legroom, wide seats, and panoramic windows with seating at tables of 4 or 2 laid with crisp linen and fully dressed in fine crockery, fresh flowers, and glassware. The meal service is detailed below and includes Bucks Fizz with breakfast and a glass of chilled champagne, and half bottle of house wine served with dinner and seven course luncheon.

Seating is at tables of 4 or 2 with additional legroom, wide seats, and panoramic windows. Includes complimentary tea/coffee and light snacks, accompanied with a morning glass of Bucks Fizz and afternoon glass of sparkling wine. There is a buffet bar available for the purchase of light refreshments and you may bring on board your own picnic hamper for consumption during the journey.
