This is a day tour to the beautiful West Country as our train travels through Bristol and the Somerset Levels onto the preserved West Somerset Railway – the longest heritage line in Britain, for a journey through the beautiful rolling Quantock Hills and along the Exmoor coast offering stunning views across the Bristol Channel. There will be an afternoon sightseeing break in either historic Dunster or the popular seaside resort of Minehead.

At Taunton we join the picturesque West Somerset Railway for a journey over the full length of the line passing Apple Orchards and sleepy country stations – travelling along the coastline we stop at Dunster where you may alight and take a 20 minute walk to visit the medieval village with its historic buildings, packhorse bridge, ancient Mill, tea rooms and Priory Church – towering above the village is Dunster Castle dating back to Norman times and now in the care of the National Trust.

Or continue to the popular seaside resort of Minehead with the station situated right on the promenade and pretty harbour only a short stroll away. There are cafes, tea rooms and restaurants in abundance and with picturesque coastal walks there is plenty to do during the two-hour afternoon break.
