Enjoy a superb three day weekend break to the Highlands of Scotland with purple heather carpeting the mountains – Our journey takes us north through Edinburgh and Stirling where we join the scenic Highland line through the Cairngorm National Park with views of cascading waterfalls and tranquil Lochs to terminate in the highland capital of Inverness for a two night stay.

Mobility: This tour is not suitable for guests requiring the use of a wheelchair or with severe mobility issues as the platforms at some stations in the highlands are much shorter than our train, low, or accessible only by a footbridge or steps.

Saturday - 24/04/2021
Our journey takes us north along the Northumberland coastal route and over the Royal Border Bridge at Berwick upon Tweed with wonderful views across to Lindisfarne, then through Edinburgh and Stirling where we join the scenic Highland line to travel past Perth and over the highest UK mainline summit at Drumochter and through the Cairngorm National Park with views of cascading waterfalls and tranquil Lochs to journeys end in the highland capital of Inverness for a two night stay.
Sunday - 25/04/2021
Our train departs Inverness around 09.00 for its first ever journey over the spectacular and scenic route to Kyle of Lochalsh. After travelling over the high plateau at Achnasheen, where great herds of wild deer roam, we descend down to sea level and around the shore of beautiful Loch Carron passing the pretty village of Plockton consisting of a line of houses along the shore, their bright gardens filled with flowers and palm trees – there are magnificent views across to the iconic Isle of Skye prior to arriving in Kyle of Lochalsh, for a three hour break, time will be available for a stroll over the Skye Bridge or various local lochside walks and our train returns around 16.00 retracing the scenic outward journey to Inverness for an arrival around 19.50.
Monday - 26/04/2021
On Monday we depart Inverness around 09.00 and return homeward through Aberdeen and Dundee as we follow the coastal route offering spectacular views. Crossing over the Tay Bridge with a span of 2.75 miles and opened in 1887 and then through Leuchars and the Kingdom of Fife before crossing the magnificent Forth Bridge and through Edinburgh where we join the East Coast route and travel south along the Scottish Lowlands on the cliff top route with views across the North Sea, then passing Newcastle, Durham and Darlington.
Classes of Travel
First Class (non-dining) - £370
Reserved seating is arranged around a table of four, or table of two. Toilet facilities are available in each carriage and a complimentary service of tea/coffee & light snacks are included. A buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, light refreshments, and alcoholic drinks. Covid-19 Social Distancing Seating – Bookings of two passengers will be seated together at a ‘guaranteed window table for two’ with a mandatory supplement of £70 per person charged. Bookings of three or four passengers are seated at a shared table and charged the normal per seat price, with the adjacent table remaining out of use. (Minimum Booking 2 persons)
Pullman Dining - £700
Seating is arranged at tables of four, or two, laid with crisp linen and fully dressed with the finest crockery, fresh flowers and glassware.
The meal service is detailed below and includes bucks’ fizz with breakfast and a glass of chilled champagne followed by a half bottle of house wine served with dinner and seven course luncheon.
